I Thought It Was a Naked Person but It Was Just a Deer

i wasn't kidding last night

when i said that it was more beautiful than everything

the road look liked a dead end

or a split end

and the street lights were out for some reason

and it looked like a movie poster

for that new stephen king movie

when cars went by

we were flat in the grass

and their headlights sort of spilled over the grass

caressing the grass

filling the cut out scissor shapes that the grass makes

i knew a girl who said "skizzors"

she thought she was from the hood

or something

but it really was more beautiful than anything

and the moon was like seven months pregnant

and alex said it looked like a reflection of the earth

like, what if the moon was really a reflection of the earth

and we never really went on it

and katie said, yeah

but jillian

what is that opposite theory you had

and i said

oh

you mean the one where everything in another universe

is the opposite of something here on earth?

and i spoke quietly

and when i spoke

i realized that some things don't have opposites

i wanted to also mention that there was an orange glow

like a creamsicle

i wanted to mention that somewhere in the poem

and put some things around it to make it look nice

and i spoke quietly

and when i spoke

i realized that some things don't have opposites

Today

rope is ominous
but not in the way you think it is
i want more people to move me
and i want music to make me still
i said a lot of poetic things last night that can't be replicated
everything i write is at least 56% different than the original thought
i want to sleep
the phone is ringing
my most used thought is "what
do we call this phenomenon"

butterflies are a species
if zombies attacked my neighborhood
alex would drive up in his green minivan
and we would go get you
and i had this dream that we were totally ravaging each other
we are a species of butterfly
