i just like to run
up the street with them
not like jogging, but running
really hard, like a race
i raced a fat guy in a parking lot once
for ten bucks
i raced my grandfather on the street
a dog chased us, he beat me
that same dog bit my mom's ankle
while she was wearing headphones
my brother said, “should have punted it”
i've never beaten a dog
in a race before
but i remember this time, a long time ago,
i was out with my dog on the street
we had a ball
